I luv Queen Latifah's persona: Fierce, firm and respected! A suffragist in heart, this Queen is anything but ordinary. From her hottest tracks "UNITY" and "Just Another Day", the spectacular movie "Set It Off", a most watched sitcom, "Living Single" and not to mention her Cover Girl line of make up. That is the least we can mention of the many talent she storms, then and now. Queen La is on fire! Ever wonder where some people like Queen La get this over the top swagger? Is it their past experiences they over come that gives them their flair?
Well I truly believe some who are creative or talented have a deep past that no ones understands unless they tell you. Art is their great escape, for example, when Mary J Blidge sings you feel it in your soul. She can take you through her past through her music and have you feeling everything she's gone through, it is amazing. Lauren Hill, with her hot tracks "killing me softly" and "Do Woop That Thing", took you into her moment one verse at a time.
My mom always said "With every rhyme there is always a reason". When our Queen La tells Essence magazine she was a victim of sexual abuse as a child my heart jumps. The lyrics of her track "Unity" comes to mind and I understand her pain a lot more. Singing her pain through her music makes her persona certified, her rhyme has more reason and her break through is stronger.
Remember the way the hip hop diva dressed in the 90s? Fabulously covered, hiding all of her curves. Now she is one of the leading faces of Cover Girls cosmetics. She sashays in perfect fitting dresses and struts in the sexiest stilettos ever! Her confidence is in over drive. Queen La is another living proof that no matter the circumstances one may face, strive for what you want. Reach for the stars, have faith and you shall receive in time!
