"New Shoes"
A wise women once told me, " a boyfriend is like your favorite pair of shoes". I took some thought into her statement and then asked her why? She said, "Well think about it, you have had hundreds of shoes, lots of them you like and others you hardly use. There are a few of them you wear for certain occasions but only because you have no time to buy anything else. Then there is that one pair, you love and wear constantly and no matter how old they are, they never go out of style. The soles have worn out and the heels have broken down several times. You still hold on, fixing them time after time, hoping and praying they'll last. One day you get fed up with these favorite shoes and store them away. You shop all over town to find something new. You hope to get that same feeling you had for the last, you know the feeling... you can't live with out em, you just have to have them, no matter how much it cost! Finally you spot those shoes, they are calling your name and so you try them on and of course it's seems like a perfect fit. You take them home, try them on with different outfits, walk around in them all week so you can break them in. It's a few weeks now and your new shoes aren't quite what you thought they will be. You stop wearing them for a few days and pull out your random shoes just to give them another try. Of course nothing changed about them so you send them and your new pair away to charity. Without shame, you pull out your favorite shoes and slip them on with love, hoping to have a never ending story."
A wise man once said "For many men, the love of our life is like our good shoes". I looked at him and said what? Please explain. "We men all have our good shoes, which is like our favorite, we can depend on them to carrie us through the storm, show us out and makes us feel good. We want these shoes to be with us until they can't wear anymore. We don't have time to get them fix and don't really care to fix them. We store them in a box so nothing scuffs them and for them to stay fresh. We have our other shoes but they're nothing like the good pair that keeps us coming back. Those other shoes are just there for play so we let our friends borrow them because they're here for the moment and definitely replaceable. Sometimes we forget about our good shoes and what they've carried us through so every time we slip them back on, we pray they still fit them same.
So ladies and gents, I ask... what pair are you?
