It was 8 years ago, I was on the campus of SUNY Old Westbury, my new school waiting in the resident hall for a classmate. In walks a girl wearing some cool color blocked vans, blue boy-friend fit jeans, a dope screen tee and I can't forget her fabulous oversized shades. She walked as if she owned the campus, full of energy and I just had to tell her how cool she looked. Before I could say anything she looked at my shoes and said "those are some bad-ass pumps". I told her that I loved her shoes as well, we smiled and exchanged info. We laughed the next day we saw each other in class. We discovered we were studying the same major, Media & Communications, our friendship took off from there.
Julissa's wardrobe was and still is cool, funky and full of life! Although we have different styles, we both die for each others pieces. We've watch each other evolve in our careers, style and most of all , as woman. For eight years we've met at least once a week to discuss our crazy yet fruitful lives. Although our conversions usually get serious, (especially the ones about guys) we usually bring up fashion to bring it back to fun.
Last week we were in the beauty section in Victoria's Secret and I noticed she was wearing a neon yellow satchel. I told her it was dope and that it reminded me of my Cambridge Satchel. We looked at each other and laughed, "Of course it does", says Julissa. We have a catalog of each others wardrobe, we remember important moments of each other based on what we wore. I told Julissa that we need to start sharing our parallel wardrobe stories to the world. She nodded in agreement and said "That will be freaking amazing!".
Look forward to Madame Q and Julissa's E. collaboration: The Cambridge Satchel
