Fashion Innovations

There are many who love fashion and dream of becoming the best designer, model, editor or what ever you have it. But there are only a handful that amazingly connect with people giving them that special something that no one else could. Sharika Miller is one of those few and Madame's Mirror was able to catch up with her to find out how she does it so well.

It was not easy catching up with Ms. Miller, after all she works for Jessica Simpson's outer-wear designs,she styles and creates her own designs, and have tons of clients to maintain! Thankfully she is luvly enough to fit us in her fabulous schedule.

Ms. Miller beleives that every girl should look beautiful! "It is not about how much money you spend; it is all about finding a look that strikes!" Her inspiration comes from people she see when she is on the streets. "If I see something I like, I say thats cute but how can I make it cuter!" She goes for that sheek, casual, sexy look all in one. Trust me, all of her peices make your head do a double spin!

The reason why Ms. Miller is so fabulous is because she stays focused, creating new heights and goals. She knows how stressful things can get but she keeps going. She started sewing every since 6 years-old; making clothes for her dolls. Her aunt played a big role in her life teaching her how to sew and do hair. Ms. Miller also remembers grwoing up in Jamaica, she and her friends after school will go to the factories and pick up scraps of fabric to design clothing. Ms. Miller says, "It is important to find something you like and stick with it, you'll never know how far it will take you!"She advices everyone to follow their dreams no matter how many people put you down or how many things comes your way.

A Diva To Remember

Okay so a couple of days ago I briskly walk through the hundreds of people on 34th street Herald Square. I decide to cross to the other side where Macy's is located.... Why? I have no idea and anyone who lives in NYC or have ever had the chance to visit Macy's on 34th knows better than to do what I did. But in this city its always good to take chances.

As I'm making my way through the crowd I start getting annoyed because the lady in front of me is walking dreadfully slow. As I try to make my way around the woman I notice these beautiful pictures in Macy's windows. Not caring who is front or behind me I stop in amazement. People were upset but when they noticed what I was staring at they stopped and look too. Faces were lit and cameras are flashing at this wonderful celebrity as if she is standing in pyhsical form. Right before us all over Macy's windows there is pictures of the beautiful and talented Josephine Baker! Her costumes and posters reign in royalty.

I have to give 3 snaps and a high five to Macy's for a wonderful display. Hands down the idea was brillant. So keep em coming Macy's!

Fashion Week in NYC started on a rainey friday night (Feb. 1st). Although I hate traveling in the rain there was nothing stopping me from attending numerous shows and events. People dressed as if the sun was out which set the vibes right. After all who would want to miss one of the most over the top events that NYC endulges? Not me..... so catch me if you can!

Artist Pharrell Williams, of N.E.R.D. fame, has teamed up with designer Camille Miceli to release a fine jewelry collection named Blason being launched at Louis Vuitton under the artistic direction of Marc Jacobs.

Williams already hit LV heavy-hitter status when he unveiled his Millionaire sunglasses in 2004. So why not continue more of a good thing? (At least now when he advertises for LV in one of his songs, he will be getting a piece of the pie.)

Going boy crazy is for teenagers! I remember the days in grade school when my friends and I would lust over the boys on the basketball team and the cutie from fifth period class. Nowadays it is hard to have a bunch of qualified hot males. There are many good looking men but they are either taken, gay, annoying, corny, retarded or all of the above. A phone book full of numbers but none of them worthy to call or good enough for you to flaunt that sexy black dress. Just tired of the same games and lame excuses.

Every one has their flaws; no one is perfect and you should not expect anyone to be। We have to have high standards and confidence in ourselves। Trust me all my male friends tell me there is nothing more sexier than a confident woman! Having high standards mean you do not settle for less। There is always going to be a guy that does not have a job but seem to be too busy for you. Also the guy with a job and is doing everything but you! It is funny but not that funny when you start excepting it.

So does this mean we give up on total packages? Do we lower our standards? Hell No! We keep our standards high, keep ourselves in order and wait for the right one to come along or go get the person yourself. Put your foot down and demand what you want.It is not like how it was in sixth or 12th grade when your crush asks you out for a movie. If you like someone and the vibe is right just go for it!

But before you put yourself in the market; most importantly get to know yourself so you could know what you want. Ask yourself some questions. What do I need? What can I offer? What do I need to work on? That is just a few of the things you should ask yourself. However ladies when you’re out on a date let the conversation flow. Do not scare them off or make the person feel uncomfortable. Most questions are answered with out you actually asking the person. Observe and listen to your date; you would learn enough to know whether or not you would go on a second.

Let things fall in place on its own। I am a strong believer that everything happens for a reason and what is meant to be truly would be. We just need to be cautious about the choices we make because every choice has aftermath. We shall no longer sit around waiting to be crushed. Life is definitely too short.

Be In Love With Yourself!

When a girl is head over heels about herself it is truly amazing. She is the girl you see glowing more than anyone else around her. Is it because she is conceited? Perhaps she is just comfortable with whom she is; appreciating herself no matter her color, shape and size. She is all that and then some no matter what anyone else may think. Wonder what her secret is?
Well when ever I feel like I’m slipping; I look at the wonderful women around me. I look at my mom and remember her struggles and triumph but most importantly how she holds her self together. The more beautiful my mom is inside and out reminds me exactly who I am. BEAUTIFUL!

My mom always told me, "there is nothing worst than a gorgeous girl being ugly". She is right, we have to work with what we have and own it. It is not about being more appealing than the other girls; it is simply about loving yourself and appreciating who you are. Kimora Lee Simons says it best in her book, Fabulosity, "Fake it until you make it. I don’t mean to fake being somebody you’re not or being a phony. I mean tell yourself you’re great even when some part of you is doubting it".

Kimora also believes every girl should feel beautiful no matter where you come from or what you look like. I totally agree with her. If you’re that slim girl who wants to have a bigger butt or the girl who is a size 10 and want to be a size 2 ; think of the many girls who would die to be your size. I bet you will start loving yourself a little more and besides what is the harm?

Product Review (Fiberwig mascara by Imju)

As a person who possesses naturally curly lashes I am on a constant quest to find the perfect mascara. The super curliness of my lashes makes them appear shorter than they really are. Plus -- my lashes are thin in diameter. So I look for products that will both lengthen and thicken. I happened across Sephora's Fiberwig mascara and was very excited by what it promised. The packaging reads -- "Fiberwig is the top-selling mascara in Japan - beating the competition with remarkable, "false eyelash-like" results. " Sounds too good to be true? That's because it is. Fiberwig made my eyelashes look like "spider wig" instead. It clumped my lashes together and made it look like I had a total of five lashes on each lid. It was so awful I had to wash it off while at work (where I tried it on) because I looked like a holy mess! Bottom line -- this mascara is not worth the money. Thankfully, Sephora has a gracious return policy! My favorite mascara at the moment is Yves St. Laurent's "Volume Effect, Faux Cils." Faux Cils, which means "fake eyelashes" in French, certainly lives up to its name!

Who Is Madame?

What exactly is a Madame? What does its definition personify? How much depth and significance is in this exact word Madame? When one thinks about the term they might visualize a woman from the 1600s who is a respected married woman. Today this term means different. In this day and age the term has more worth and power, and thankfully you do not have to be married to be considered a Madame. Today’s Madame is a young, educated, chic and stylish, married or not, but most importantly she is a woman who is socially aware of the many injustices in her society. She is a woman with class, whose grace catches the eyes of many.

How To Be Lovely

When someone asks me who I admire the first woman that comes to my mind is Audrey Hepburn. She happens to be my absolute favorite old-school actress. I love ALL of her movies even the horribly corny ones like "Roman Holiday." She was a great actress and a beautiful woman. She is certainly known for her undeniable beauty, style, grace and femininity. What most people don't know, however, is that Ms. Hepburn was a great humanitarian as well. In her later years,she became a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and devoted her life to helping starving children in places like Somilia. Feel Like A Woman -- Wear a Dress!

That is the catch-phrase of my all-time favorite designer, Diane von Furstenberg (DVF). I love it!! Eventually, I want to be one of those women who wears a dress and a pair of high heels everyday; not to baseball games or to picnics - but mostly everyday.Like today - I have on a dress. A really pretty DVF one. What's the special occasion you ask? Not a thing! All day people asked me where I'm going ... I told them "nowhere." It's fun for me to wear a dress and heels. I am one of those super girly-girls and I like getting dressed up whenever the occasion permits. Sometimes I feel overdressed especially when compared to my company. I remember one time I was having lunch with my honey and his friends. No place special, just a spot in the mall. Everyone was in jeans, but I wore a dress. I felt like a such a woman ... especially at a table full of men! I didn't care that I was dressed up (though I threw on a pair of jeans for chilling purposes later). Is this strange? When you wear a dress, do you feel like more of a woman?
